Joel L. Freedman holds an MFA degree in Motion Picture Production and
Direction from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where he
taught motion picture production as Adjunct Professor of Film and
Television. He has served as an advisory panelist in film and video for
The New York State Council on the Arts and the International Monitor
Awards. He is a founding member of The Association of Independent Video
and Filmakers (AIVF) and a member of The Independent Feature Project
(IFP). In addition to filmmaking, Mr. Freedman is an accomplished
classical and jazz cellist. He has recorded "The New Wave in Jazz"
with Albert Ayler (Impulse Records) "The Charles Tyler Quintet"
(ESP Records), "Jazz at the Village Theatre" (ESP.), among
others.
